Weekend review:

Good luck leads clan to a tight 4 point weekend...

Braehead Clan had a lucky 4 point weekend with an impressive victory at home on Saturday night vs Edinburgh capitals to kick it off.  Despite caps scoring first Braehead scored three unanswered goals during the remainder of the game to cap off a great night and their was more to come the next day with a trip to Sheffield with Ryan Finnerty and Chris Frank against their former club. Despite Steelers opening the scoring,
Clan came back with three unanswered goals (two of them squeaking in...just) but into the third period, and an unbelievable strike by Rob Dowd put steelers within one to give them heaps of confidence. It was a scary and intense final minute with clan hanging on for a brilliant victory but clan would be left gobsmacked as steelers tied it with just seconds left.... only for the ref to wave it off as the goalie all ready covered. Or did he? From what steelers thought was a great comeback turned into more celebrations for clan as Joel Champagne scored an empty netter to have the travelling fans in happiness for one great weekend of hockey action.

Giants and devils double showdown ends in the best for both...

Belfast Giants and Cardiff devils had a double header this weekend in Belfast. Both teams battled it out and both teams went home happy with both clubs having 2-1 wins. Saturday night kicked off Wales vs Ireland and a 1-1 first period would be, surprisingly the only goals of regulation. And no goals in OT either so to the shootout we went!
Devils scored only one which was the only goal of the best of three shootout(so it looked) Devils held it for a while but at the last shot Giants scored to put this shootout from a comfy devils win to a intense battle but Devils regained the lead and this time they won it! That was one famous victory that gets Devils season back on track. Are caps successful days long gone and back to bad after another terrible weekend...
Edinburgh Capitals last season saw the club rise from the bad days to come up and stun the league with their best season in years! But now though, they've dropped from that and will once again have to come back from the low...which doesn't look likely...HOWEVER, at this point last season caps were in this position and look what happened so I wouldn't over-worry caps fans!

Remember though, its not last season any more, and it may not go the same way and  this weekend made caps season worse and worse. As you have read already, they lost 3-1 to Braehead clan on Saturday and Sunday, despite a great effort, saw them loose 6-4 to Dundee stars. Caps may of done well to get four past Dan Bakala but still lost though. A Sam Mckluskey hat trick gave Dundee another victory to keep them in Second place behind Belfast Giants at the top. Stats:

Good effort by Steelers results in first shutout for Frank Doyle...

Frank Doyle got a fantastic first shutout of the season blanking Fife flyers 3-0. Despite them loosing 4-2 at home to Braehead the next day(report a few posts above), Steve Goertzen Rob Dowd and Jeff Legue would be the scorers in one of their best wins of the season so far. Frank stopped 21 stops to help his team win an impressive performance. Panthers keep up great form with great weekend yet again...

Nottingham panthers, after an impressive 4-3 overtime win on Friday vs Dundee stars(report on Halloween) review at home went on to thump Fife Flyers 7-1 including a Brandon Benedict hat trick. Nick Anderson also scored his last goal for the club and it was pretty much all panthers and they were the better team. Blaze thump Stingrays in big clash...
Coventry Blaze beat Hull Stingrays 5-2 at home in the Skydome on Sunday but four of Blazes goals came in the first period for 4-0. The last 40 minutes however, were completely different and they were a lot fighter for a final score of blaze 5-2 rays. stats here:
