Giants pick up four points in long trip to Coventry...

Also doubling up last weekend was Belfast Giants and Coventry Blaze with both games in Coventry. Top team Giants came into these clashes knowing big things were to come from Blaze!

One way then the other turns into late win for Giants...

The first game of the battle on Saturday was tight from start to finish which started off slow and looked to be a goalless first then BOOM, Giants hit two in three minutes, at 17:27 with Dustin Whitecotton scoring then in the final minute of the first, Colin Sheilds made it Giants game after the first period.

The second period was different, despite Giants keeping their pressure up, Blaze kept themselves in it when James Griffin got Blaze within one at 25:42.

Into the third and Blaze finally caught up when Brian McMillin put this at anyones game with not long to go in the third. Both times battled and battled but Giants put themselves back in the lead in the dying minutes when Robbie Sandrock fired home to seal off a great win! Final score Coventry Blaze 2-3 Belfast Giants!
Stats:
Shots on goal: Blaze (On Stephen Murphy) 30; Giants (On Mike Zacharias) 53

Same score again, different situatuion...

Coventry Blaze went into last Sundays game looking for revenge on Belfast Giants for the previous nights result. Giants however, wanted to make it a four point weekend and got off to the best start, as just 1:14 in when Evan Cheverie fired home to have Giants in the lead! That was the only goal of a big first period!

36:18 though, was when Blaze finally scored as Kevin Harvey tied things up and it was a low scoring affair at this point. 1-1 at the end of the second.

Both teams wanted this bad and the third period had chance after chance until Blaze got the 2-1 goal. Michael Henrich scored just 2:53 into the third period to put them one goal ahead! Giants wouldn't go without a fight and at 54:28, Keven Phillips got that all important game tying goal for 2-2. It stayed that way to take it into the dreaded overtime.

No score in OT so to the shoot out. It seemed to last forever, and both teams had their chances, but this became the battle of the goalies but eventually things tilted Giants way and they won to take the points, again with a 3-2 win but this time in the shootout! Final score Coventry Blaze 2-3 Belfast Giants.
