One win, one loss for Steelers...

Last weekend Sheffield Steelers played hard and got a good result. Saturday was at home vs hard hitting Dundee Stars and Sunday was down in Cardiff vs the devils!

Steelers come with power which pays off in big win...

These two sides, who are in great form met last Saturday knowing it would be tough and they were right! Jeff Legue got the only goal of the first period coming at 15:53 firing past Dan Bakala in great form.

The second period was a frantic one, just 38 seconds in, Rob Sirriani fired home to make it 2-0 Steelers. Not long later though, Nicco Sacchetti got Dundee back on the board and back in the game. It was now a one goal competition! However, steelers kept the game their way as Legue netted again at 29:23. They hung on and it stayed 3-1 until the next break!

Stars tried hard to fight back but Steelers made sure they would never catch up and at 50:45 Aron Neil sealed te win to cap off another memorable night! Final score Sheffield Steelers 4-1 Dundee stars
Stats:
Shots on goal: Steelers (On Dan Bakala) 35; Stars(On Frank Doyle) 15
Powerplay: Steelers: 3/6; Stars: 0/3

Devils make it a 4 point weekend in close affair...

Both teams went into this clash battling for a four point weekend. Devils got off to the best start at 3:12 as Mac Faulkner scored to make it 1-0 Devils! They hung on to that for nearly the whole period until Stefan Myer scored for 1-1 at the end of the first period.

The second period was scoreless despite good chances for both teams but the next goal would go devils way in the third period! Jake Morrisette scored a late 57:17 winner and Matt Myers sealed off a fab win with 15 seconds left into the empty net. Final score Cardiff Devils 3-1 Sheffield Steelers

Bad weekend for Stingrays despite late serge...

Hull Stingrays had an even test last weekend at home on Saturday vs Cardiff Devils. Then on Sunday they were in Edinburgh vs the Capitals.

Devils dominate Rays for easy win...

Stingrays weekend opened at home, as they played a big clash vs Cardiff Devils, who were in strong form. A tight first period which looked to be scoreless suddenly had a blow of goals, first Matt Myers at 17:31 then Jake Morrisette scored just seconds later. 2-0 Devils after period one.

The second period was entertaining and just 5:42 into that period, Tomas Kurka scored to make it three. Devils continued with their pressure and it told again as Mac Faulkner scored at 30:19. That pretty much sealed it off already but the scoring wasn't done just yet. Stingrays broke the shut out for Dan Lacosta as Omer Pacha got Rays on the board but no scoring in the third made it a final score of Hull Stingrays 1-4 Devils.
Stats:
Shots on goal: Stingrays(On Dan Lacosta) 35; Devils (On Ben Bowns) 30
Powerplay: Stingrays: 1/4; Devils: 0/6
Referee: Neil Wilson; Linesmen: Ally Flockhart and Paul Staniforth

Caps beat Stingrays but late events make it an unbelievable battle...

These two sides met with caps on fine form, not beaten at home in three games had confidence going into this one.

A scoreless tight first period wore stingrays out and resulted in caps being all over them in the second scoring four goals! 21:24 was when Jade Portwood made it 1-0 then at 33:52 player coach Richard Hartmann put caps on fire! 3-0 came at 36:46 when Curtis Leinweber fired home to pretty sum up a great performance from the Scottish side! Caps were flying and it got better. Just before the intermission, Martin Cingel made it a brilliat night, 4-0!

The third period however was different, Stingrays came fighting back but a little slip made caps add salt to the wound, Hartmann again, making it five! The caps fans clapped down the seconds but suddenly Stingrays gobsmacked them. 18:49 into the third the shut out went as Guy Doucet scored for now 5-1. 59:20 then became 5-2, Guy Doucet again. And after that, Jason Silverthorn made it 5-3 to almost complete the best comeback in British ice hockey history. But no, Caps won 5-3. What should've been an easy win, tuned into a tight affair. Final score Edinburgh Capitals 5-3
Stats:
Shots on goal: Capitals (On  Ben Bowns) 32; Stingrays(On Tomas Hiladvlosky) 29
Powerplay:  Capitals: 1/6; Stingrays: 3/5
Referee: Neil Wilson; Linesmen: Gordon Pirry and Dave Farren

Giants pick up four points in long trip to Coventry...

Also doubling up last weekend was Belfast Giants and Coventry Blaze with both games in Coventry. Top team Giants came into these clashes knowing big things were to come from Blaze!

One way then the other turns into late win for Giants...

The first game of the battle on Saturday was tight from start to finish which started off slow and looked to be a goalless first then BOOM, Giants hit two in three minutes, at 17:27 with Dustin Whitecotton scoring then in the final minute of the first, Colin Sheilds made it Giants game after the first period.

The second period was different, despite Giants keeping their pressure up, Blaze kept themselves in it when James Griffin got Blaze within one at 25:42.

Into the third and Blaze finally caught up when Brian McMillin put this at anyones game with not long to go in the third. Both times battled and battled but Giants put themselves back in the lead in the dying minutes when Robbie Sandrock fired home to seal off a great win! Final score Coventry Blaze 2-3 Belfast Giants!
Stats:
Shots on goal: Blaze (On Stephen Murphy) 30; Giants (On Mike Zacharias) 53
Attendance: 2007
Powerplay: Blaze: 1/6; Giants: 1/6
Man of the match: Blaze: Brian Mcmillin; Giants: Colin Sheilds
Referee: Dean Smith; Linemen: James Kavanagh and Andy Dalton

Same score again, different situatuion...

Coventry Blaze went into last Sundays game looking for revenge on Belfast Giants for the previous nights result. Giants however, wanted to make it a four point weekend and got off to the best start, as just 1:14 in when Evan Cheverie fired home to have Giants in the lead! That was the only goal of a big first period!

36:18 though, was when Blaze finally scored as Kevin Harvey tied things up and it was a low scoring affair at this point. 1-1 at the end of the second.

Both teams wanted this bad and the third period had chance after chance until Blaze got the 2-1 goal. Michael Henrich scored just 2:53 into the third period to put them one goal ahead! Giants wouldn't go without a fight and at 54:28, Keven Phillips got that all important game tying goal for 2-2. It stayed that way to take it into the dreaded overtime.

No score in OT so to the shoot out. It seemed to last forever, and both teams had their chances, but this became the battle of the goalies but eventually things tilted Giants way and they won to take the points, again with a 3-2 win but this time in the shootout! Final score Coventry Blaze 2-3 Belfast Giants.
Stats:
Shots on goal: Blaze (On Murphy) 25; Giants(On Zacharias) 43
Powerplay: Blaze 0/1; Giants: 0/3
Attendance: 1958
Referee: Mike Hicks; Linesmen: Andy Dalton and James Kavanagh

Clan dominate Flyers in double header showdown...

Last weekend Braehead Clan and Fife Flyers met twice, in each others arenas. Saturday in Braehead, Sunday in Fife.

Clan revenge early serge from Flyers for one amazing hockey game...

Part one of this double battle started in Glasgow and both teams played their hearts out. Flyers came with power and it took only 47 seconds for Josh Fulton to smack it past Kyle Jones and put Flyers on the board early. Then on a power play at 6:22 new boy Kyle Haines fired home to have Flyers cruising and in control until two minutes later when Clan got back in the game. Former Sheffield Steeler Lee Esders finding the net to make it a one goal game.

It stayed that way until the second period at 27:05 as Ed Mcgrane tied it, to make this anyone's game then Neil Trimm completed this mini comeback at 36:17 to now have clan 3-2 up. However, Flyers fought back not wanting to have the embarrassment of being come backed and just 59 seconds after Trimms goal, Tim Hartung put the game back level and evened up! Flyers were now rising but Clan were bigger at this point when Clan newbie Joe Cullen scored a great goal to have a second period lead for Clan. Big things were set to come in the third though.

At 45:14, Shane Lust turned the game around. What started at Flyers lead, became Clans dominance now. 5-3. Then, salt was rubbed into the wound at 56:12 when Joe Cullen inched it past Blair Daly in goal for Flyers in the place of Kevin Regan. Clan had the comebacked sealed but Flyers made it 6-4 with over 10 minutes left and possibly a chance of Flyers finishing what they started but when Daly was pulled in the dying minutes, Tristian Harper deked his way into the empty to secure a hectic but entertaining win with a few fights squeezed in too! Final score Braehead Clan 7-4 Fife Flyers
Stats:
Shots on goal: Clan (On Blair Daly) 27; Flyers (On Kyle Jones) 20
Attendance: 2355
Referee: Scott Dalgleish; Linesmen: Gordon Pirry and Paval Halas

Clan defense says no, offense says yes, to win double battle with Flyers...

Clan and Flyers met yet again but this time Fife had home advantage. They were looking for revenge but things weren't going the way they planned. Ed Mcgrange scored 3:55 in then not long after at 5:28 Kevin Bergin doubled clans lead to have them racing.

Matt Towe scored the only goal of second at 31:48 to have it all Clan and the previous nights win was giving them a huge boost!

The final period was again sealed off by Ed Mcgrange to have Clan win both games of the double header and dominate Flyers including another shut-out for Kyle Jones to add to this collection. Final score Fife Flyers 0-4 Braehead Clan.
Stats:
Shots on goal: Flyers (On Kyle Jones) 24; Clan (On Blair Daly) 29
Attendance: 1478
Referee: Scott Dalgleish; Linesmen: Pavel Halas and Ally Flockhart

The journeys over, Panthers out of the Coninental cup, but still proud...

Nottingham panthers have had a remarkable journey in the European tournament, the Continental cup. It was sort of  part two of last seasons achievements, so what started in September 2012, has now ended BUT the Panthers should be proud of what they've done on this journey, winning a grand slam, then getting to the big time! They hosted round two in Nottingham last month and did so well to do what they've done. It all came to a close though on Sunday after the eventful trip to Asiago in Italy.

Late Torros goal breaks panthers hearts in frantic game...

Panthers continued their Continental cup ride and round three game one was versus Russian side Torros played a really tight game, which ended in heartbreaks. Steve Lee scored first 4:50 in to put panthers first on the board but Torros ended celebrations quickly, as they scored at 5:04 just 14 seconds later. They made it 3-1 not long after, only for it to get waved off so scores were level at the end of the first. 1-1.

In period two, Torros got that goal back at 24:33 but just like the first period, but this time the other way round, the trailing team, this time panthers, responded quickly. Matt Ryan got the game back to level terms. Before the next break, Torros had another goal waved off to keep things level again
Not long to go in this period and Joe Jensen set up Steve Lee to score his second of the game at 39:20 for Panthers to take a vital lead going into the final 20.

Final period, and at 43:35 the Russians found the net to keep things tight, with everything to play for in this game. The big heartbreaker would come though as Toros scored late on and clinch it, leaving panthers gutted at 58:02 with a minute and 58 seconds to spare. Final score Torros 4-3 Panthers.

A comeback and a bounce back as Panthers get back to winning ways...

Panthers were now in a situation where, if they lost this clash versus Kazakhani side Yertis, it would put them in a very difficult position in the Continental cup! And a bad start saw them fall behind at 11:39 when Yertis found the net.

It stayed that way until the second period when Lynn Lyons scored at 29:20. Then Panthers came pumping back and turned the game around at 31:45 when Brandon Benedict became the hero scoring a great goal to seal off a win for the panthers! Final score: Yertis 1-2 Panthers

Continental cup dream comes to an end in Asiago showdown...

Panthers hopes of making British ice hockey history were on the line during this encounter versus HC Asiago(Italy). These two had met before this last year in pre-season in which goalie Craig Kowalski scored a goal! With Kowalski out injured, injury reserve Neil Conway started between the pipes. It was a bad start for the Panthers, as the end of the first approached they were down 2-0. In the final minute though, panthers got on the score sheet when David Clarke fired home. That completed an action packed first session. In the next period, it was the same man who got panthers right back into this game to make things even, and it was anyone's game now! Nottingham thought they were rolling, but the hosts scored just before the end of the second to put them in the drivers seat with 20 to go! The final period, panthers were desperate with their European dream on the line but despite playing amazingly, Asiago hung on and won to leave panthers gutted and out. But what they have done to get this far has been truly amazing and the whole organisation should be proud. Fans, players, management, sponsors have worked really well as always and will continue that. Well done Nottingham Panthers, you have done British hockey proud!

Panthers take on Asiago with a chance to go through to next round in Continental cup...

This weekend, Nottingham Panthers have been in Asiago playing round 2 of the International ice hockey tournament, the Continental cup! On Friday, Panthers lost 4-3 to a late goal vs Russian side Toros but bounced back the next day vs Kazakhstani side Yertis with a 2-1 win. Other results have added up to a huge showdown tonight (Sunday 24th November 2013) as Panthers take on hosts of this round, HC Asiago! A regulation win will put them through to the next round! If the game goes to overtime or panthers loose then they are out! It must be a regulation win in order to qualify! Heartbreaking weekend for Clan...

Braehead Clan have seen better days after last weekends slip. A surprising result at home last Saturday vs Hull Stingrays followed by an eventful game in Cardiff the next night.

Hull sting clan in tight pressing game...

Hull Stingrays are having a good and bad season so far! Last Saturday, they went up to Glasgow with a big game to come. Clan debuted forward Joe Cullen who scored just 11:46 into his time in the purple jersey. But with just 11 seconds left in the first period, a breakaway deke  goal from Carl Lauzon made the period go from a Clan lead to a tight tense game! In period two, Hull went in front for the first time to turn the game around as Jereme Tendler squeaked it past Kyle Jones at 36:29 for 2-1 Stingrays. It stayed that way until the third when Rays extended their lead to 3-1 to have them cruising and despite a goal Matt Haywood to make it a one goal game, Clan could not level and it was a final score of Clan 2-3 Stingrays

Clan win, but it comes at a cost...

Braehead Clan wanted a bounce back from the previous result vs Hull Stingrays as they traveled to Cardiff to face the Devils. A brilliant game from Kyle Jones saw him get a shut out. Almost. Braehead had the better first period with a goal from Matt Towe at 4:25 for a lead at break one. Into period two, and Clan put them in a great position. Chris Frank found the net at 29:25 to have them in control and the Scottish side had a boost going into the last period. The clock ticked down. Clan were hanging on for the win and when the final minute approached, Braehead fans were on their feet to cheer for a great win. However, Clans hearts were broken when Mac Faulkner broke Kyle Jones shut out with just a second left to leave Braehead stunned but Clan still took the points and celebrated the win but still had the mini heart-break in the back of their mind! Final score Devils 1-2 Clan
Stats:
Shots on goal: Devils (On Kyle Jones) 32; Clan (On Dan Lacosta) 21

Tough test for Flyers starts good, ends bad...

Fife Flyers had a hard weekend vs 1st and 2nd in the league for two intense games of hockey. On Saturday, the Flyers traveled to face in form Dundee stars then Sunday, they came home to face league leaders, Belfast Giants. The Belfast match report was in a different post, (scroll down the home page to find it) but here is the trip to Dundee report as they faced the stars!

Flyers amaze Stars in close win...

It was a huge game for the Fife Flyers last Saturday when they traveled to face second placed Dundee Stars. It was a great game which saw Stars on the board first with top scorer in the league Nicco Sacchetti firing in at 3:41 but just NINE seconds later, Steve Gunn made it level in an instant! However, later on, Nikita Kashirsky put the hosts back in front to give stars the lead at break one! Surprisingly. that was Dundees last goal of the game. Quickly, in period two, Danny Stewart tied the game again which was the only goal of period two. A vital final session was to come and it was Matt Reber to score a very late winner at 55:33 and Jordan Fulton scored again to secure a stunning and unexpected win.
Stats:
Shots on goal: Stars (On Kevin Regan) 17; Flyers(On Dan Bakala) 33
Attendance: 1655
Referee: Neil Wilson; Linesmen: Gregor Mizen and Ally Flockhart

Panthers dominate Steelers in unbelievable showdown...

This weekend old rivals Nottingham panthers and Sheffield Steelers came face to face and were in for one battle of a weekend. Steelers had lost all their games to panthers so far this season so they were looking for revenge against a struggling Panthers side who were on a two game loosing run.

Steelers edge panthers on home ice to beat them for first time this season...

A packed house in Sheffield saw a fierce battle between the Panthers and Steelers which both sides came out tough! It was panthers who scored first, as David Clarke scored just 2:36 in but Jeff Legue tied the game a few minutes later and an action packed first period including lots of shots with both goalies coming out on top. Into an intense period two and around the same time Legue scored in the first, Chad Langlais scored in the second to put Steelers ahead for the first time this game and very quickly Johnathan Phillips made it 3-1 to Sheffield. Chad Langlais scored his second of the game to put Steelers 4-1 ahead. David Clarke again scored for panthers though to keep this game tight for 4-2 at the second break. The final period was full of fights and action but Johnathan Weaver made it a one goal game early on in period three and when panthers goalie Neil Conway was pulled, it Steelers who sealed off a great win as Legue again scored for a final score of Steelers 5-3 Panthers
Stats:
Shots on Goal: Steelers(On Neil Conway) 21; Panthers(on Frank Doyle) 18
Attendance: 6755
Referee: Dean Smith; Linesmen: Paul Staniforth and Andy Dalton

Panthers blitz Steelers to leave them stunned...

Steelers went into this game with confidence and panthers, desperate to break their three game loosing run, were nervous going into this clash. It was a sell out crowd in Nottingham with Steelers being favorites to win...were in for a shock. This was one amazing game of hockey with fights, including a mighty clash between Brent Henley and Tim Spencer for Brent to be thrown out of the game. Both teams wanted this so bad.  An early power-play for Steelers saw them 5 on 4 but Panthers got the puck and a 2 on 1 saw a great pass from Robert Lachowicz for Matt Francis to zoom the puck past Frank Doyle for 1-0 Nottingham to take that into the first break! Second period was different though and Rob Sirriani scored for the Steelers for 1-1 and took that into break two setting  up an intense final period. The arena was electric and just 1:41 into the last period Matt Ryan scored for Panthers to put them ahead again!  At 46:34 Leigh Salters put Panthers 3-1 up for this to start a run of goals. Peter Kalus scored a home debut goal at 50:37 for 4-1 then a break away from Matt Francis picked up his second for 5-1 then he completed his hat trick drilling the puck past Doyle for a blitzing final score of Panthers 6-1 Steelers!
Stats:
Shots on goal: Panthers(On Frank Doyle) 31; Steelers(On Conway) 35 (On Green) 3

Roller coaster ride for Giants in a battle of a weekend...

Belfast giants weekend in Scotland turned out with shocking results in explosive games!

Caps turn on the heat in big win vs Giants...

Giants went to the Scottish capital knowing caps would be pumping after breaking their 10 game loosing run last week stunning Nottingham panthers 7-6 in overtime. They were right. Caps piled on the pressure from the off and didn't stop! Despite Evan Cheverie opening the scoring for Giants caps got level late on in the first period through Jade Portwood. That was the score at the first break setting up a big second period which didn't disappoint. Tomas Horna put Caps 2-1 up but it was Evan Cheverie again who leveled things up at 25:00 and then 42 seconds later, he completed his hat-trick to put giants 3-2 up and it was all smiles for Belfast but caps put a halt to that with 55 seconds left in the second when Peter Holecko fired home. The third period was going to be a big one! But what looked to be a giants win was turned around in the third, with two goals from Richard Hartmann saw a fantastic win for the home team! Edinburgh capitals 5-3 Belfast giants!
Stats:
Shots on goal: Capitals (On Stephen Murphy) 17; Giants(on Tomas Hiladvlosky) 33
Attendance: 682
Man of the match: Giants: Robbie Sandrock; Caps: Richard Hartmann
Referee: Rab Cowen Linesmen: Pavel Halas and Scott Dalgeish

Big bounce back by Giants sees Flyers falling...

Fife flyers went into this game with a tough test on home ice against a Belfast Giants side who were looking to bounce back from their defeat in Edinburgh the previous night. Giants hit hard and it took them just 10 seconds to score as newbie Cody Brookwell scored quickly and that was the only goal of the first session!  Kevin Suarette made it two at 7:37 into the second which started off some great Giants play. Just over a minute later Dustin Whitecotton made it 3-0 followed by Colin Shields making it 4-0 late on in the second!
Into the third, and it was again Suarette who made it 5-0 at 56:16 . That secured a fantastic giants win but Flyers broke the shut out in the final minute with both Giants goalies trying to share the shut out. Murphy hadn't conceded but Andrew Dickson who'd taken his place in the final few minutes did to leave him gutted but giants still took the point and a fabulous win! Final score: Flyers 1-5 Giants
Stats:
Shots on goal: Flyers(On Murphy) 26 (On Andrew Dickson) 2; Giants (On Kevin Regan) 22 (On Blair Daly) 9
Attendance: 1232
Referee: Alan Craig Linesmen: Gordon Pirry and Gregor Mizen

Some however, will come at the end of the week, sorry about that. But its better than waiting for all of them. Also, rather than reviewing it in one paragraph or two for each team, I'll have an introduction for their weekend followed by match reports from all their games! Good format? Have a look below. So, here you go! Enjoy!!

This weekend, by far was the best weekend of the EIHL season so far, so many twists and turns and for the first time, no team had a bad weekend, every team got at least one win for the first time so it is by far the most entertaining weekend of action so far this campaign. Every team got one win and one loss expect Coventry Blaze who became the only team with 4 points!

A battle of rivalry results in tight win vs Devils...

Arch rivals blaze and devils had a big showdown at the Skydome in Coventry in front of a large crowd which was an intense game from start to finish. It was a scoreless first period with both teams pushing hard but it took until 7:37 into the second for Michael Henrich to score and put Blaze in the lead for 1-0 which would be taken into the second break setting up a vital final 20 minutes. With Devils battling hard now for that big leveling goal and eventually got it to put this game level 1-1 via Tomas Kurka. Blaze didn't let that get them down and kept the game on their side with Michael Devin regaining the lead at 54:12.

Not long after, Blaze extended the lead for 3-1 as Cale Tanaka fired home. The clock ticked and it looked like Blaze had done it. However, Devils pulled goalie Dan Lacosta and the extra man paid off with Andrew Lord scoring to set up a hectic and tense last minute. Devils pressed and threw everything they had at Blaze but when Blaze got possession, Michael Henrich fired home into the empty net to send relief into the Blaze crowd. It was a final score of Blaze 4-2 Devils after a great game including a hectic last period.

In form Stingrays side test blaze, but not enough...

Hull Stingrays, who have on form defense, on form and attack and definitely an on form goalie in Ben Bowns, hosted Blaze, with both sides on the back of wins and battling for a four point weekend. Stingrays tested blaze well and paid off but Blaze took a 1-0 lead into break one with returnee Shea Guthrie target at 3:28.
Into period two, and blaze were sizzling, top scorer Ryan Ginand scoring just 43 seconds in! Hull were pressing but couldn't get past Blaze Goalie Mike Zacharias. Coventry made it three then four with Kevin Harvey and Ross Venus on target have Coventry thrashing Hull 4-0 with a period to go! Despite this, Rays got two goals to put a possible comeback on but this was't enough as Blaze scored an empty netter to seal the win via Ginand again! Final score: Stingrays 2-5 Blaze

Weekend review 9/10 November

Fantastic weekend for Stingrays despite only win...

It was an eventful weekend which, despite only one win, looking at the stats it was unbelievable. Saturday night at home was against Belfast and as expected, the giants took the points in a 2-0 shut-out victory for goalie Stephen Murphy. However, both goalies had something to be proud of.
Stephen Murphy because of a shut out.
Ben Bowns because he made FIFTY EIGHT saves. This is rated as the second most amount of saves made in a game behind Fife Flyers former goalie Garret Zemalk with 76 saves in 2011 vs Nottingham panthers!
Sunday and a Hull side exploding with confidence went down to Cardiff and despite it being 3-3 late on, a late winner from Jereme Tendler and an empty netter to seal it off completed possibly their best weekend so far! Panthers return from Scotland with nothing despite a historic comeback..

Not very often you see it but Nottingham panthers had a terrible weekend! A 4-2 loss to Fife flyers which was tense and tight throughout resulted in an empty netter for a sold out crowd win for the Flyers! Fife had a fabulous win and it was a rough game that Flyers deserved more.
Onto Sunday, and panthers were raring and pumping as they traveled to the Scottish Capital to take on the Edinburgh Capitals. Surprisingly, an all caps first period saw them 1-0 up but that was only the start of it. Caps kept going. And this would result at a mid-way not one , not two, not three but four goal lead which was stunning. Panthers, on the other hand didn't want this to get worse! They finally broke the shutout for 4-1 then a quick second goal saw a comeback on. A caps fifth goal to take a 5-2 lead into the final period made Nottingham look buried. It was an action packed final period which saw panthers stun caps with three straight for 5-5 but just when they thought they were making history, caps spoiled the party with a 6th goal but..again panthers just made this a madly tense game to send it to the dreaded overtime.
Panthers already had a historic comeback and were left gutted with an OT winner on a penalty shot goal from Jake Portwood but credit for almost coming back!

A 4-2 win, a 4-2 loss for steelers...

Sheffield steelers had a mixed weekend but a good performance at that with the return of head coach Doug Christensen. A 4-2 win in Coventry Saturday which was one way then another and a fierce battle between too very competitive teams. Steelers led 4-1 going to the final session but Coventry pulled one back for 4-2 however, it too little, too late! Next day and steelers had a four point weekend on the line but Belfast giants came in too strong and won with the same scoreline Sheffield won the previous night 4-2. Flyers press with all their might in hard weekend with surprising results...

As we already said it was a fab 4-2 victory Saturday vs Nottingham Panthers and made them ready for a big trip to Dundee on Sunday! It went mainly Dundees way as expected but Flyers pushed hard for three goals for a final score of Stars 6-3 Flyers!
