The Kings have been crowned, a review of a historic season...

Celebration time.. photo credit: @NHL on twitter

Friday night, LA Kings completed the roller coaster that was winning the Stanley Cup announced on the blog earlier and pretty much every ice hockey site out there/ real life too!

Alec Martinez was the hero in this one scoring the biggest goal of his entire life. A successful regular season saw them as the 3rd seed of the Western Conference entering their hardest ever playoff run!

Round one explains that for you. After getting battered twice by San Jose Sharks, then again but a lot tighter, LA faced elimination but they stunned the sporting world winning four straight sending a warning to next victims Anaheim Ducks as a crazy series saw another game 7, smashing Ducks 6-2 after sealing the game early on with a convincing 5-0 lead!

Probably the most interesting series of the whole playoffs if you look at the pre-game aspects. Defending champions Chicago Blackhawks won game one, but an eventual game 7 was an overtime 5-4 win getting revenge for being eliminated in OT the year before as well!

To say the final was a five game series, it felt like seven as New York Rangers, who had also faced a tough run, managed to avoid the Stanley Cup being raised on their territory and a sweep. Game 5 though, Kings were unstoppable! Alec Martinez smashed it past a gutted Henrik Lundquivst to end the game! Highlights of the remarkable end here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lqj3Q1Ryhy0
