Three giant signings for Belfast!

New Belfast Giants coach, Paul Adey, has started signing players quickly, with two re-signings and a new player. That new player is Calvin Elfring, former DEL defencemen, who joins the d-men on the blue line in Belfast.

From what he's tweeted(@cbefring), he's happy to join Giants, and can't wait for the puck to drop.

Another key signing, is back-up netminder, Andrew Dickson(pictured above), a key goalie, who once again, backs up GB international Stephen Murphy.

Their 3rd signing of the week was forward Kevin Saurette, another fantastic player who scored some big goals last season, and looks to do the same thing next season. Belfast's rosters looking great so far. This seasons going to be competitive!

Doyle is a devil!

Cardiff devils have signed Canadian net minder Frank Doyle who played in the AHL (american hockey league). He has had a successful career playing with Worcester sharks and currently playing with HC Fassa in Italy, and can't wait to join Devils. He's a huge signing for the devils, who missed out on a bronze medal at playoffs weekend loosing 11-5 to the Coventry Blaze. The welsh side hope he'll be a hit and can finally get Cardiff to some silverware.

Their previous goaltender Chris Whitely, didn't get devils anywhere. He wasn't  what devils were looking for and just couldn't settle in with them. Credit to him for how he tried. It isn't easy joining a team mid-season, but he didn't get many wins for Cardiff. He was lucky to get them to their 10th playoff finals weekend in a row. The only team in the league to achieve that. Whitely was signed as a replacement for former goalie Phil Oaser. He went home to Norway to be closer to family.

Hopefully, Doyle shall be a hit with Cardiff. Could this be devils year? Things are looking good... and the puck hasn't even dropped yet!

Francis stays in Nottingham!

Nottingham panthers are over the moon to announce that star forward, Matt Francis has re-signed with the grand slam champions for a 3rd season after a very successful season scoring 59 points, 22 of them being goals. He played a huge part in winning the grand slam, especially in the regular season, helping the panthers to their first league title in 57 years! He scored the empty net goal that clinched the title in Belfast when they beat the giants 5-3 to end the wait for that ultimate prize. Francis told the panthers website:   "What is there to say, it's a fabulous club, a great place and I've had so much success with the Panthers. This wasn't a difficult decision to make."

Phil Hill returns to the Devils!

GB international Phil Hill returns to the Cardiff Devils after an amazing season with the Welsh team scoring a whopping 40 points. Not to forget helping the welsh sides 10th playoff weekend in a row! The devils organisation are very happy to have him back. Devils coach Gerad Adams told the EIHL website:

“Phil is a top level British player, he is reliable, coachable, capable of scoring big goals and will be back even stronger next season."

Despite making every playoff finals weekend, devils haven't won any playoff titles. Which is pretty unbelievable if you ask me! But next year, with the re-signing of Hill, Cardiff are looking determined to lift the grand prize.

Who will replace Myers?

Their have been a lot of rumors of who will replace Matthew Myers after he departed the Nottingham panthers for home town club Cardiff devils. Most rumors have been going around Twitter that a replacement will be signed very soon. Nottingham panthers did confirm there's signing news on Friday and it looks like it will be a replacement for the Welsh wizard who scored a hat trick against the devils during the playoff semi final.

One most likely player to step into Myers shoes is former Belfast giants forward Craig Peacock, whose dad played for the panthers during the Super league days. He won a league title with Belfast in 2012, and scored lots of points during that time. He also reached the playoff final this season and lost it 3-2 after overtime, in a giants shirt against the Nottingham panthers, the team he may join this upcoming season.

Their is also a slight possibility that Robert Farmer could join panthers whose also played with Coventry blaze and Braehead clan. He played some great hockey with these teams. Clan especially.

Another couple of players are Sheffield goal machine Jeff legue and former Nottingham panther Ashley Tait, who played ten seasons with them. If he does sign, it'll become 11.
